We saw what happened to Jack Thompson and his 'video game crusade'. Made me laugh, probably did the same to some of you. This will blow over and people will forget about it until it boils to the surface again, just like gas prices do.
The difference between your bookstore analogy and this is that the companies that own the servers and lines that make up the internet got together and decided to do this, so yeah they control the internet entirely and can do what they want with it.
