Open Office is an open source, freeware office suite made to be an alternative to Microsoft Office.

All of their applications are phenominal, but some (such as Impress) are hugely different from their Microsoft Counterparts (PowerPoint). The only 2 that this really applys to is Impress and Calc, but where Impress is a (in my opinion) BETTER application than PowerPoint, Calc is only an average version of Excell.

All of their apps can take Microsoft's extensions, but some of the formatting may result differently

I know that everyone can get Microsoft Office (you can get anything for free), but if you want to try a good alternative, and have a couple innovative freatures (Open Office can export as PDF, without addins), give Open Office a try. I actually HAVE Microsoft Office, and yet i perfer to work with some Open Office apps (Impress).
