Google Hijacked?

All day today google has been redirecting the computers in my school to some lame game website, anyone else seeing this ****?

Eh I dont know, I know it wasnt spyware because every computer in the lab was doing it.

But now it works fine at home.

Check C:\windows\hosts.sam or C:\windows\hosts (no extension), and see if google is in there. If it is, remove it, and it should work fine.

It will be in different places depending on the version of windows. In 2000 is c:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc.

People with windows 2000 would know where to find their host file. To be complete though, I should have listed all possible default locations, so you're right -_-''

I too have once had this happen to me once at school. The computer I was using was completely clean, and the hosts file was empty entirely.

Redirected to some lame gamer site? Did it seem more likely google was hijacked or more likely someone has messed with your school's network/computers?

No, the site had nothing to do with gaming. In fact, it was a very strange site, the purpose of which I was unable to determine.

That was basically what I saw. The sites banner said "Coolest games ever", but then showed pictures of rock formations in caves..

UPDATE:

Was an error in the schools DNS server.
