Building on those advancements, Gates announced Internet Explorer 7.0, designed to add new levels of security to Windows XP SP2 while maintaining the level of extensibility and compatibility that customers have come to expect. Internet Explorer 7.0 will also provide even stronger defenses against phishing, malicious software and spyware. The beta release is scheduled to be available this summer.

Gates also announced the Windows Update beta to start mid-march, and a final version of the Windows Anti-Spyware tool to be made available to all customers of licensed Windows at no charge .Source : http://www.neowin.net/

yes, but let's compare. Internet Explorer is notoriously the browser which is most succeptible to viruses and spyware, so unless you enjoy inflicting pain and misery on your computer, i wouldnt use it.

Never used IE for more than an hour, i believe it does somekind of brain damage. Safari is the best for me!

Maybe if you learned how to properly set it up then you would have no problems, dont blame MS for your ignorance. I have been IE since 3.02 and have never, I repeat never gotten 1 piece of spyware from it, nor have I ever had any of the supposed "major bugs" been exploited on my computer. And furthermore I would be willing to take it one step further in that as FF begins to become more popular that it will see a major increase in bugs... remember when a "hacker" looks for a bug he is going to start with the most popular out there, it is simple logic, more popular ~ more users ~ more impact. right now firefox is most likely achieving its security by using its obscurity (which is both a weak defense and a very strong one).
