You're using software that modifies your bootscreen or something, I got the same error. You gotta edit your boot.ini and remove the "KERNEL=kernel1.exe" from the line. Just go to microsoft.com and type in the error number you got.

Just my luck that it ****s up with me.
Installed it
SLOW startup

SUCKED, Uninstalled it, didnt fix it. Tried a os repair and it bluescreened after that.

So im reinstalling xp... ill try it again, lol.
It was time for a os reinstall anyways :-/

I notice no difference. Haven't played any games, though.

SP3 really does give a little better performance ^_^

using PCMark05...
i benchmarked my SP2 and got: 362 PCMarks
so a 15% increase will mean that my score should be 416.3.
after installing SP3, i benchmarked again and got: 419 PCMarks, which is about 16% :D

Just an FYI, if your system is ****ed up to begin with, a service pack will just make it worse.

I installed SP3 on my computer a while back, one of the pre-builds. I booted up my PC (after not having it on in about 3 months due to personal reasons) and it decided to currupt itself, randomly freezing while playing music and then refusing to boot back up. It has missing system files. So either I had some kind of spontaneously activating virus that was dormant for 3 months or MS decided to gay me over

What's that have to do with the current release? I've yet to have a problem with it.

Why the **** would you want XP to look like Vista? The only thing worse would be to try to make it look like a Mac. :S

Anyway, downloading it now onto my desktop, we'll see what happens. Unfortunately, my laptop is Vista, so... yeah...

EDIT: Installed, running, isn't really different at all. Having no driver issues and everything still works (so far). It kept my theme (XP Silver) with all the fonts and sizes the same. Even the Windows Media Toolbar in the taskbar is still activated. I never understood what was so good about that Address toolbar, it just seemed to clutter things up more.
