California to Fully Legalize Marijuana

With enough signatures, Californians could be voting to legalize marijuana in the upcoming November election. They need 694,354 signatures by September, 5, 2008. It's totally do-able. Its been over a decade since Proposition 215, the Compassionate Use Act of 1996, was passed with over 5 million votes in favor.

It will still be illegal federally and federal agents will still arrest people in CA. Additionally, if the state decriminalizes it then the fed.s might cut highway funds and other financial aid to the state. So much for federalism.

Yes, federal groups like the DEA will be able to lay arrests, but really, if you're just smokin' dope a federal agent is going to bother you, however they may beat down on the dispensaries, as they do now.

It should pass too, the one to leagalize it for medical use passed with 5 MILLION votes, so its in out favor. Especially with all the new people that moved to ca just for that reason since the law passed.

And we all no Arnold would be behind it

Doesn't matter if they pass it or not, the police will still arrest you. Just because a state legalizes pot doesn't mean its actually legal there, the police will go by the federal laws if there is no state law. So you're ****ed either way since you'd never be able to get it abolished on a federal level.
