I considered starting a Red Alert 3 thread, but decided against it... I've installed it, and watched the intro, and I'm amazed at the failness.

Firstly, don't they realized that if you're focused on characters in the foreground, the background needs to be unfocused (I realize it's blue screened and CGed, but still).

Secondly the menu is fail - it's great that it told me that there's an update available, but it doesn't have to show me a blank screen and make me wait while it checks again every time I return from a sub-menu to the main menu (I know the patch probably fixes this).

And why not just include the "tutorial" in the first few missions. I'm going to skip them (and not read my manual) - am I going to be missing anything I really need to know? I'm about to start playing....

EDIT: okay, so the engine's really cool, and there's enough of a tutorial in the first mission - I just wish I could hide the big map in the top right corner :| I really like how they've re-worked the music slightly, but the "Solo/Co-Op" option between missions is damn annoying.

EDIT: I tried quitting a mission (to get back to the main menu), but ended up watching the cinematics for it again?!?! great game (in terms of gameplay and engine), but I think the actors, their outfits, and the backgrounds all suck.

Patch fixes that update thing, updating also removes it for good.

The tutorial I never did and I had no problems beating the game, but you're basically stuck learning as you go rather then knowing from the get-go. I always have the habit of reading the manual anyways.

I thought the intro was amazing, same with all the cinematics, I really don't see how the game "fails", it's a great game.
