The g9's optimized for the claw grip. It's quite a bit shorter than the g5, and it's not as tall. This lets it move around inside your palm, without anything touching. I've noticed that my hand never gets sweaty like it used to, since just the tips are touching. You're never sucked into a non optimal grip if your hand gets lazy (browsing the web, etc.) and it offers multiple grips. 1 is really textured, you could probably tip your hand in water and pick it up with more than sufficient grip. The other is a satin finish, really soft, and it's got a higher back end that fits your palm. You're still using a claw, but it's supporting the inside of the palm. Also has more of a "ledge" for your thumb, keeps it off the desk, not that mine's ever on it with the other grip.
tbh, I've only used the satin grip for about a day when I was going back and forth getting the mouse to where I wanted it. Playing with the weights, sensitivity settings, and swapping grips. Ah, yea. The grippy one is kinda tapered in a little bit so you have more grip, which is nice. **** just won't let go almost :D The 3200 dpi is really nice. It's basically 1 inch = 1 foot of monitor space, which is what I like for normal web browsing, 2000 isn't even as sensitive as I'd like. The g9 is ridiculously comfortable because like I said, absolutely nothing but your finger tips touch the mouse, evar. Your fingers do all the control, you press your thumb in to move it right, and pinky in to move it left because it just floats under your hand. Agreed, it looks weird, but it's awesome. It's got macro software built into it, you can rebind any key to any other key. And probably my FAVORITE feature is it's micro gear. It has this button on the bottom of the mouse. Press it, and it disengages the "clicking" from the mouse wheel. So it's metal, weighted, ball-bearing mouse wheel just spins for days and days. ****ing secks. 1 flick and you'll go through 100 pages. JB and the picture threads are no match for this mouse. Not to mention rebinding your firing key to the mouse button and getting full auto with a pistol is nice, too ;) |

I think my hands are pretty small. Just fyi, the g9 is pretty awkward when you first get it, just because it's so different. It took me about a week to get used to it, if they ever make it obsolete, I'm buying back ups.

This time I just noticed that I was holding my mouse with Claw Grip. I guess I use both Flat Finger and Claw, depending on what I do. If I have to move the mouse a lot, then flatfinger, if I have to click a lot (f.ex. reading webcomic) then claw. It seems this way.
