Sure, I've solved it many times. First time was really plain luck (I solved 5 sides and got the 6th for free). Then I learned some algorithms for solving the last side, so it got pretty easy. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to do it consistently (it involved like 20 steps at the end iirc).

i have a 4x4 rubiks cube that i got for free at a trading convention.
i must have spent like a combined time of 30 hours trying to solve that thing over the last 4 years, still nothin.

Anyway, I seriously doubt you (or any non-Savant) will ever solve it without help or doing a mathematical analysis first, unless you just tend to win the lottery or something. So I suggest you start here.
