Concurrent means subsequently. The life sentences are served back-to-back, not simultaneously.

Concurrent is at the same time. What 25 concurrent means is that when his 20 years are up, and he is eligible for parole if or when he'd violate, he has 25 new charges to face.
For instance I have 2 years probation concurrent(running with) 1 year parole. With a 1 year parole consecutive(after my 2 years + 1 are up[2 years])[3 years total for a 4 year sentence].

How is that different from serving consecutive sentences?

Lol, I just now noticed that too, I don't know how that would even be possible to serve "concurrent" life sentence(s), and 25 at that.
edit: Just read above posts, my question has been answered.
