Default Chinese Farmer Builds an "Army" of Robots

I found the article on Slashdot, but their summaries generally suck - so here is the original article.

It mentions he may end up selling some of his robots because he ended up spending a large majority of his monthly income on their construction and plunged his family into debt. I wonder why he just doesn't get an engineering job building robots? It mentions he lacks all but a basic education, but surely innate talent is more useful in many cases than some fancy piece of paper that tells someone you tricked your way through some school program...

Wow. Technology has come a long way.

I'm surprised he hasn't built death robots and just take over a bank or something.

Funny how some guy with basic education can do what people with degrees are doing in America.

I consider it proof that the Chinese (and asians in general) are intimately better genetically equipped for engineering.

Wish they had pics of the other robots. Still pretty cool though.

Good links. It's people like this guy that truly deserve educations. Imagine the advances that could be made in robotics if people that are naturally talented enough to make fairly sophisticated robots with fifth grade educations and living in some of the most rural areas of the world went to some place like CalTech or MIT.

My theory is that in countries with a population that high the odds that someone will be born that is gifted in a certain area are much greater.

He should definitely get an education in robotics.

Would be nice if someone from a top school saw that and gave him a scholarship. The advancements could be amazing.
