About 5,000,000,000,000,000,000 for 12 digits. I didn't feel like typing out the exact number. The equation is 36^X where X is the number of digits. If only letters are used, 36 becomes 26, and if numbers only, then it's 10.

The bigger problem is gettting a cd key accepted by the server. They log, like blizzard does, all cd keys given out on games. Only those cd keys would work on b-net or CS servers. A keygen would find a legitimate cd key very rarely, like 0.1 % of the time, depending on cd key lenght and how many copies of the game were sold.
