Phone Line

Since my 56K internet is connected into the phone jack, everytime somebody call, one of my computer freeze up for a sec. And that give me an idea.

Since my computer is connected to the phone jack, maybe i could hear what the person on the phone is talkin about with my computer. You know, like if u have 2 phones in ur house, 1 person pick it up, and u can hear waz goin on if u pick up the other phone. But instead it is on the computer....Yea like that.
Where can i find that?

Not sure how you could do that, but im pretty sure its possible.

Back when I first had the internet using AOL, the only time I would be able to hear a conversation through the computer was when someone was already on the phone and I would attempt to connect via Dial Up. For about 5 seconds in attempting to dial up, I would hear the conversation then AOL would go back to the log-on screen. That's only with one phone line.

Yea that happen to me 2. But the voice is low and stuff. Just need to open the line.

I never said what he had was voip. Did I? No, I simply told him to research something. It's basically having a phone, over the internet. Most isp's and telephone services provide it. There's a free service that provides it. It's called Skype. Look into it.

How could someone suggest AOL.....tsk tsk tsk.

EDIT: There are also these things at RadioShack that you can buy that split your phone line. It will also disc your internet when someone calls. Or you can just make it notify you. I think they're like 30 bucks er something. They're pretty nifty.

Actually when someone calls you can hear their calling in your speakers on your computer. At least I could when I had dialup.
