yes, there were many rumours about this and it is true. Google officially released their own IM.

Damn you punture...I just saw this on AOTS and was going to post it. I don't think it can compare to programs like MSN messenger.

Yea... it looks like AIM >_>;;; but more colourful.. But I think it would take time to completely supersede IM programs as MSN and AIM.

I told bloodybane about this like 20 minutes after it was released. Too bad the voice protocol only works over windows for now, so my mac can't do anything except IM :/

Um.. would Google Talk be added to the Profile section so that people would get to add each other just like AIM and MSN and Yahoo and ICQ>

Not true!

It can also look pretty and have no real practical use in the modern computer age!

On Topic: I'm really not impressed by Google talk. I still want a Trillian plug-in for it and for it to be supported by the forums.

Lol, I messaged one of my friends on it. The sound quality was a LOT better than on AIM, although I didn't have a mic, so I just typed it to him

Ignorance is bliss. lol. I meant that my mac can't do anything on tha jabber protocol except send Google IMs.
