Good grief. I can't even stand to have my recycle bin showing on my desktop most of the time... let alone an army of ugly folders and program shortcuts. That's what your programs menu and your personal folders are for... But then again, I am an OCD whore for organization and have a folder for everything in a vast hierarchy of directories.
As for those who are down on Vista, my Vista laptop runs beautifully, and looks sexy to boot. Here is one shot of my desktop with sidebar/taskbar, and one without either. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() You fags should use imageshack so your screenies don't take up so much space in thread, too.

I prefer the clean, no-icon desktop, especially since I use Launchy. But since I still find it convenient to download to the desktop (for installation .exes, temporary files, etc), I just used TweakUI to delete the Recycle Bin and other icons from the desktop (Recycle Bin's in my Start Menu).
