Say I wanted to make a sig with a Motorcycle. So I go to Google, type in Motorcycle at Google Image, and I find a good one. But, the Motorcycle image has other things that I don't want. Like a background. I only want the Motorcycle itself, not the other annoying background stuff. Also, I need help on how to paste an image into my sig in Photoshop. I use Adobe Photoshop CS2. I also have Adobe ImageReady CS2 if that helps.

Well there are a few different methods to "extract or isolate" an image. You can draw the outling of whatever you want to cut out with a lasso tool, you can use the majic wand, and you can use the background erase tool. It depends on the image.
With the outline you only use this if you want to spend a significant amount of time on it or if the image variation is very slight. Like a blue on another blue. You just select the lasso tool then trace along the edges of the image you want to select then delete the background. With the background eraser tool. This is an old noob method, select the background eraser tool from the eraser section. Then click away, make sure the size of your eraser is proportionate. Then Best method is with the Magic wand. You click on areas you want to delete and it tries automatically to select similar imagry. However this can be problematic if the image and the background are the same or close to the same colour. Somtimes though you can adjust the tolerance (higher= selects more and is inprecise, Lower= Selects less but is more precise) so if you have the afor mentioned problem lower the tolerance, if this doesn't work then use the lasso tool. I would post images of all this but I'm too lazy and you're not exactly a longtime contributor. Also if you send me the picture of the bike I can cut it out and send it to you for reference or use. Lastly as for your copy and paste thing...open the image in photoshop select what you want to copy using any method. Then hit Ctrl+c. Then open a new file whilst in photoshop. Select the size of the "template". And hit Ctrl+v. |
