Adobe Illustrator CS : Making a pattern
Here is a tutorial I put togather today, I decided to make a little tutorial for Illustrator because not many people know how to use it, and when you can use it, it can be a very powerful tool.
#1: Start out by making a curve with the pen tool, make a point and place another point, and drag out to form the curve. ![]() #2: Press and hold down alt, and drag the bar down so it looks like a reflection of the other one (look at images 1 and 2), than click the point at the bottom to connect the two points again, making a shape. #3: Click on the rotation tool on the tool bar, and place the point where you want to rotate around. #4: Drag it to rotate it, but don't let go yet! Go to the next step. #5: Hold down Alt, than let go of the mouse, it will duplicate the shape. #6: Now press Ctrl + D repeate the last action (so it will rotate X, and duplicate the shape.) keep pressing Ctrl + D until the image looks finished. ![]()

Illustrator is kinda difficult to get the hang of (espically the pen tool) but once you get it down you'll love it ;). I'll make some more tutorials for Illustrator when I have time
.

I'll make a pen tool tutorial, the pen tool is the most important tool in illustrator.

I know this will be a double-post but I'm posting this at a completely different time and scenario. Mods, (LCS
) if you feel the need to merge my threads go ahead.Anyway, I managed to do the same thing with Macromedia Freehand :![]()

Freehand is basically Illustrator, and Fireworks is basically Photoshop, just from different companies. Basically. Not totally, though. But, Macromedia doesn't have a video editing program like Adobe Premiere, and Adobe doesn't have HTML editing program like Macromedia Dreamweaver.

I use both fireworks/freehand and adobe photo/illustrator interchangably. Sometimes one program is just more convient to accomplish something.
They are both equally as good, and I do it professonally, so enough with the 'this is better than the other one' or 'this can't do that'. They pretty much can do everything the other can.
