I felt compelled to do a tutorial
.Ok, so you can use the layer effects to make a drop shadow, right? But you can't move it around, distort it, or anything. But with this tutorial, you can. 1. Select the subject that you want casting the shadow. 2. Send the image to a separate layer. 3. Retrieve the selection outline for your new layer, by ctrl-clicking the image. 4. Do a feather. Divide your resolution by 20 for the radius ie. if my res. is 200, I put 10 .5. Send the feathered selection to a new layer. 6. Fill it with black. Unless you want a colored shadow. If so, fill it with a color, then select the multiply blend mode. 7. Nudge it around, to where you desire. 8. Lower the opacity, if you want. I usually go for 70-80%. 9. Free transform it! This is where the advantage of this over layer effect drop shadow really comes. 10. If you need to, liquify it to make it match perfectly. Too lazy to upload pics... so do it yourself . |
