Adobe Illustrator CS : Shading
To shade a figure you start by making an outline than adding hundreds of trasparent shapes.
If I want to make a sphere like this I would outline the circle first and make it a solid color (A light grey). That I would start by adding a light grey with an opacity of 10% - 20% and stack it until the shading looks good. ![]() This is a final product: ![]() Final product zoomed and selected: ![]() Final product zoomed, notice the shapes: ![]() Final product zoomed and selected, notice the shapes: ![]() Although this process takes a long time, you can make extremly realalistic pictures. Here is a picture of a braclet I'm currently working on: ![]() Here are some pictures of the process, the last picture is what I currently have. ![]() ![]() ![]()

It just takes alot of time and patience, the last picture of the braclet took me two hours to make, its not very hard once you get the hang of it though. I'll post the final image when I finish it

Going crazy with these illustrator tutorials, eh?
I thank you for putting the work into supporting the tutorial section. Hopefully we'll have a nice host of tutorials sometime soon. Keep up the good work.

. I would love to see some people post some work they have done with Illustrator i the Random Art thread.
