In worse case scenarios, you can use HijackThis. It is easy to delete important items using this, as I found the hard way. But, some spyware is just that pesky. Also, remember that some cannot just be simply deleted, you will need to rename the file associated with it, reboot, it will fail to load upon reboot, then you can delete it. Good times.

Heh, I once did some tech work on a computer and found 1400+ in adaware!
Once again:

I am a certified computer technician, and the best programs I have found are all free. Be very wary if you have to pay for the program. Besides most of em actually have spyware in them! OK:
[1]Spybot S&D (Search & Destroy)
[2]Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition
[3]SpywareBlaster

SpyWareBlaster is the most important as it is designed to actually PREVENT spyware from connecting to your pc.

I regularly check my computer for spyware with Ad-aware. I just reinstalled WinXP and wanted to scan for spyware to make sure my computer was clean and it found 617... I think my total quarantined on my other Windows installation was far passed 10,000. Sigh, oh well, Ad-aware seems to work fine for me.

Uh, why not just take out the registry entry using the Windows regedit?

I don't look at pornography on the Internet, so I don't have much of a problem with Spyware.

Nor do I yet before I formatted it my computer was crammed with spyware. It is a common misconception that spyware problems arise only from porn.

That was a joke.

In reality, I don't have any peer-to-peer filesharing applications installed on my computer, I don't visit suspicious links online, and I don't open any mail in my Spam folder. Bam, no spyware.

Spyware Analaysis

Spyware isnt Anybodies fault...It just gets on your computer. It can range from something as simple as visiting a few webpages, Looking at some porn or even just online gaming. But whatever you do; Do not surf the net unprotected. Below are some results of a test me and my crew have done;

To help you decide which programs to use, we assembled a spyware-detector obstacle course of the most nefarious spyware and adware available: nCase, BargainBuddy, ISTbar, DyFuCA, PowerScan, and Internet Optimizer--the Unsavory Six.

We then ran the most well-known heavyweights in the adware-removal category, including the free programs Ad-Aware and Spybot - Search & Destroy, as well as the paid programs Spy Cleaner Gold,
