Hello,
I need some dire help with my computer. Since the day I made my computer, the computer was giving a hell with a problem. It freezes during startup, but in a random manner. One time, it would load XP fast as hell(which I find it to be the normal speed for my processor) but sometimes it takes hella long... (longer than my Pentium 2 to load XP) and frequently, it freezes during the XP Logo boot up screen. Now, my main hypothesis is that I have damaged the hardrive, which is the source of the problem... The reason being is.... I dropped my hardrive before I hooked it up XD... Pretty badly, on a cement floor. However, I have searched this problem in google, and other people that had this problem had problems with their RAM, Motherboard, etc. but not their hardrive. So I am asking any person who knows anything to fix this problem, or identify the problem is very much appreciated.

I'm assuming Gamepin though you had 2 sticks of RAM. In which case you would take one out to use the other to boot and then vice versa. I don't think your computer will boot with.. 0 RAM though.

im guessing you have alot of stuff loading when you start your computer. Find out all the programs that start when you turn your computer on cause it can take alot longer with more programs to load.

Learn your terminology punture, boot and startup and two different things. If it's freezing during boot, it's almost definately RAM or a corrupt boot image(should give that error if it is) and during startup probaby means you got some bad files loading ie:virus/spyware something that's either maxing the cpu causing it to freeze or that's causing some critical error.
If it's during startup, go and start your computer in safemode and start>run>msconfig and turn everything off. I also suggest download HiJackThis it'll tell you what's loading at startup and help you remove it. @boot, get more ram out of another computer. Make sure it's compatible. |

I added two 32MB sticks to a 64MB system once, and it froze, turns out one of them was bad and I had to use only one stick. I had to be careful with the build I just finished because a lot of people said there were RAM compatibility issues with it.
