Good, anti-virus client which isn't a resource whore?

Hey guys. Anyone know of a good, free, anti-virus scanner which doesn't whore resources and cpu time? I've tried Kaspersky, and it sucks balls. It doesn't need any of that fancy auto-protect bull****, it just needs to scan files. ta.

Judging from your previous thread i ponder to even take you seriously but if you get any p2p progam you can never go wrong with PC CHILLIN. small simple, and it wont terminate any memory your presious computer may or may not have.

i saw a commercial on tv fer that....avg is good. i use kaspersky online antivirus to scan stuff..

and i use trend micro online antivirus fer scannin comp....just google fer "trend micro" and it should be first. i dunno exact site cuz i dont keep it bookmarked

An update on this plz. Does anyone have any other good ideas for an antivirus program? My friend uses bitdefender, but it sucks RAM like a bitch from what I hear. Also, do you know where I can possibly torrent an antivirus for free? Thanks.

Bitdefender rules! and if u dont have 1.25gb of ram to spare it aint my fault.

agreed, the main problems is that economic barriers dont allow people to protect their computer correctly. As for torrenting av, yes it is possible but not very safe.

ZoneAlarm is a good firewall and free, not sure if a virus scanner tho :(

I don't think it's supposed to be free but you can get the security suite and it has the virus scanner too.

McAfee works well for me. When my second hard drive broke and my first one got mega windows errors McAfee was the only thing left standing at the end of it. Still had to reformat my computer though...

Lol, the new McAfee is amazing detection wise but its so buggy it's intolerable. If you want a good Antivirus and decent firewall try PC-Cillin Internet Security. I still need to get around to cracking the new 2005 version but in the meantime you can get 2004 here:
