Default Random Power Losses

Ok guys, i have my suspicions on this, but id like some other perspectives on this

I get random power losses on my computer, as in my box, all the lights/fans etc go off, instantly, my moniters go blank, not off, for around 3 seconds, then my computer turns back on, boots up, my moniter of course doesnt catch up as quickly, and i get an unsusually longer boot time, and get to login screen.

After some light reading, I thought maybe i was putting too much stress on a single outlet by pluggining my entire computer, 24" moniter, and 15" monuter into a power strip. so i moved my computer over, and have my computer to a seperate socket, and the moniter on the power strip. No go.

Im very doubtful on it being my power supply, as i have this Newegg.com - PC Power & Cooling S61EPS 610W Continuous @ 40°C EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Power Supplies
im quite sure that power supply is high quality, im not overloading a rail, as its a single rail
im running a wolfdale, 4 gigs of ddr2 1066, and a 260 off it with 2 hard drives.
im quite sure an 80%+ efficiency 610w PSU can handle all this lovely stuff, and comment show other people are running a bit more gear on their systems.

Might be a software error, a conflict, as im running a cracked 64bit XP pro. but im doubting a software error would cause a power loss of this caliber.

a hard drive error, same thout as above.

ram error? im thinking this might be the problem. i was runnign it for while at 1.925v at 800mhz, when it should be at 1066 @ 2.1v.Newegg.com - OCZ Reaper HPC 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory

what are some other perspectives on this.

also, no moniter that i have show anything even close to overheating, my system is very cool.

Only your computer is affected, the lights in the room, television, etc are unaffected?

And i had some issues with my dimm's and HDD going bad, run some smart disk tests on ur hdd's and you might also try taking out a stick of ram 1 by 1 and see if one of ur dimm's is bad.

gl, post results if you try.

If it was your ram you would get a BSOD so if your overclocking that might be your problem you might have to much or to little to your vcore.

yea its just the box, everything else in my room is unaffected.

ill try when i get home and say whats up, but it happens randomly, completly randomly, so i could almost an entire day with nothing, that wham when im not even there. so results will take a long time if i tried taking out a stick or somthing. i have to log in, then leave it sit and see if its at the log in screen when i wake up.

i put my cpu back a default, so unless its not getting enough, or getting too much power idk(probaly too much if anything, as its 45nm right?) maybe it cuz i have an older mobo which is used to the old press size. ill look up default voltages for the wolfdale E8500 and see where that gets me.

and the ram is getting 2.125V right now at 1066mhz. and it tells me 2.1V is what it likes.

According to eXtreme Power Supply Calculator Lite v2.5 the E8500 stock vcore is 1.2v.

alright, my cpu core is at 1.21V
so im good on that

now i just got a BSOD not 10 seconds ago, my comp rebooted so fast i was only able to catch the words, memory dump.
did not have a power loss, just an immediate reboot. wtf is up with this, im starting to really suspect my ram atm. im going to try and stick it out with only 1 2gig stick for awhile, and if that solves it ill try and return both sticks for a new shiny pair.

It may not be the ram itself it might be the DIMM slots they are plugged into, and ur symptoms sound just like my old pc.
Except when my DIMM was bad it would crash pc on startup most of the time.

Also try disconnecting each hdd one at a time leaving the other hooked up, and see if you have any issues, it may just be one of them not writing data properly then (crashing your system)

disable restart on System failure... Properties on My computer>Advanced Tab> Startup and recovery buton> Uncheck Automatically restart (its a little over halfway down the window)

now when you get a BSOD it will stay there until you manually restart the computer. Then you can see the Error code, which we need (ex. 0x0000004e )

sometimes there is also a driver listed at the bottom, usually ends with a .sys extention.

i dont mean to be mean, but i just dont see what you mean exactly by your directions.

i just went to control panel>system>Advanced tab> and its near the bottom for startup and recovery settings. i just dont see where the beginning of your directions are. i mean rightclick on my computer? i dont have an icon on my desktop if thats what you mean? and the thing in my startup tab gives no option for advanced tab when right clicked.

well...i dont know if this is odd, but in my event log, for security, i have some anonymous logons?? what the hell? theres only one account on here with a strong pass, so what the **** is with this anonymous logon...it worries me. this happens pretty much the same time as my power down, so right not i think somthing up, i didnt get anything on avg, but this is srs.

i dont notive anything unusual with the other logs, nothing in the the system matches up with the time of my last one(though it was a blue screen not a power loss). and the applicaitons look normal.

ok, lets go over this slowly. I figured you would know what my computer is. If you click on start you will see an Icon of a computer with the Label "My computer" this is MY COMPUTER. Ok if you right click on that a little window will apear called a CONTEXT MENU. At the bottom of this menu there is a selection called PROPERTIES. THis will bring you to MY COMPUTERS properties. Once you are in there , there is Several tabs leading you to different functions. The function we want is ADVANCED. So we click on the advanced TAB. Now we are in the MY COMPUTER ADVANCED SETTINGS Location. Now there will be A button for SETTINGS in STARTUP AND RECOVERY. If we click that we are there!!

Now instead of typing an entire Essay on how to do this, i figured you had enough commonsence to understand the Fast version "Properties on My computer>Advanced Tab> Startup and recovery buton> Uncheck Automatically restart"

any other questions?

im sorry, but i need specifics when explained something, i dont automaticly know something if you leave out a step. thats the reason why their called step by step instructions. dont give step by step instructions if you plan on leaving out a step, just tell my where it is, ill find it by myself. sheesh

See, that's the thing no steps were skipped. I think its safe to say about 2% of the active community here does not know where My Computer is located. Sorry that I assumed you were not part of this minority.

If you dont even know where to find my computer then I do not recommend you trying to diagnose your own computer problem. Bring it to a computer technician or atleast a friend who knows something about computers.

you missed the go to my computer properties, you jsut said go to my computer, thats a folder as im sure you know, and right clicking on that folder does nothing, unless you say what exactly im going to.

so i right clock on my computer, then suddenly there this advanced tab im looking for, you make it sound like the advanced tab is in the "context menu" which is where i was going, wtf do you mean? and decided not to look further upon your so called instructions.

now, no more debating, i edited in my new question in a previous post that i had from the event veiwer.
