quick help

Well I seemed to really mess things up this time. I was messing around with in the xorg.conf file and I messed up the X server. (I think thats what it was called)
So now I have to go back and fix things, now with no graphical interface.
I got to /etc/X11/xorg.conf with the vi text editor, but I can't save my changes.
I checked to see my permissions and I think I have -rw permissions but doesn't that mean I should of been able to edit the file?
All I have to do is remove an option I added, I think that should fix it.
O and BTW, all I'm trying to do is get Beryl to run because when I try to run it I get the cube with all white edges, no desktop.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

SORRY FOR BEING SO BLUNT BUT NOBODY WANTS TO HELP ME ALL I NEED TO KNOW IS HOW TO EDIT THE /ETC/X11/XORG.CONF FILE USING TEXT COMMANDS. THANK YOU!

No way your nuts, there has to be an easy ass way to get permission to the FILE, I just don't know how and need someone to opinionATE on this.
