Default Beryl

I'm sorry for making another thread but I have looked on google and even the Ubuntu forums and I still can't seem to fix this. I've been trying to install Beryl for a couple days now, I've gone though shutting down the Xserver and more, but I seem to be stuck here. O btw I have an ATI graphics card and direct rendering is enabled.

This is where the error occurs when I run the test for beryl.

Code:
Checking for non power of two texture support: Failed
Support for non power of two texture missing
beryl: glXBindTexImageEXT is missing
beryl: Failed to manage screens: 0
beryl: no manageable screens found on display: 0.0
Thanks in advance for any help.

Have you gone to the Ubuntu guide wiki? BTW what version of Ubuntu are you using? Make sure you have the proprietary drives for your video card installed, you can do that from the administration panel.

Yes, I've done it all. I can get Beryl to run, it's just the sides are all blank white, but I can rotate it and all. Tried setting default depth to 16 and that really messed it up, couldn't even load ubuntu had to go in recovery mode.

I heard the ati drivers can be abit flaky. You did install them right? Nvidia cards and much better suited for Linux with there excellent driver support.

Yea I know this. And I'm pretty sure I installed them correctly, I used Envy.

Those errors do look like a video card / driver issue. I don't really know what to do.

Ok, thanks for trying though, you seem to be the only one. BTW now I'm trying it under Xgl session and it still doesn't work.

you probably already have, but try making a thread on ubuntuforums.org
those guys have helped me with every problem i've ever had. i think deathknot is right about the ati drivers being a bit flaky. nvidia pwns on that. have you tried getting the drivers from both the ati website and from apt-get?
also, try this

Sorry to hijack, but you know how when you focus your mouse away from the current window your looking at and that window becomes opaque allowing you to see through it? How do I turn that off?
