My suggestion is searching the numerous topics regarding lagging/latency issues on this board. Else, Google more specifically your problem. You should find the information you are seeking.

The only problem I ran into since getting high speed & my new NetGear router is based on port forwarding and having them set up properly. You use a router, yeah? It takes 15 seconds after I logged in to NETGEAR Support Home Page. Default user name/password was admin/password. Go to port forwarding, add service, start port = 6112 end port = 6119, then your IP address. (Just search what's my IP or use the run through the start menu if you don't know). All this is specific to me personally but assuming we are talking about the same issue...although we may not be as I never lagged just couldn't host. After words no problems concerning hosting/high latency. I use Sudenlink cable so I don't know the relevancy of this post as it pertains to you. Perhaps someone has your answer. Goodluck.

Yep, you need to portforward 6112-6119 and 7777 to your internal IP in your router.

Yes, because we of Bwhacks and those at Portforward would tell you to open those ports with the intention of hacking your computer.

I don't wanna go against the rules of this forum (if this topic is to old) but...

I did the port forwarding 6112-6119 on my DSL router (dunno where to add 7777 maybe a screenshot or to would help?)

I followed the advice in ghostboy78's link and set up a static ip as well.

My firewall for my router is off, yet i still get bad lag in games over 3 people and still can't host.

Anyone got help for this DSL, XP, Starcraft gamer?

forwarding port 6112 UDP should be enough(with starcraft default port).

Is it possible to see a screenshot of what your saying?

I did the portforward 6112-6119 and setup a static ip and still cant host games .

Kinda pissing me off cause I really enjoy Sc but playing vs just computers is getting boring. Funny thing is, when I had Dial-Up I could host games, When I had Cable I had no issues, ever since I got DSL I can't host Sc games or Open D2 games...Plz Help lol.
