Just remember that it was the original massive tide of hack beggars and the like who formed the community, and are now some of the most established community members. This next wave with the coming of Starcraft 2 is sure to bring more memorable characters.

I wouldn't count on it. If there is more than a 1:3 ratio of active posters, activity won't exceed more than several days per patch release.
I didn't notice this was a necro thread either...the future is doomed.

I won't be using hacks in SC2, i expect a full warden implementation, aka, the ban hammer.

I'll bet it will be very difficult to hack sc without an abundance of cd keys. I'm sure each time a hack attempt fails it will result in a banned key.
Then there will be the issue of server side storage. Blizzard will probably do their best to keep as much data as possible on the server, like map info, players, minerals etc on their server and only give the information to you when you've earned it (viewing an area on a map for example) so searching in memory wouldn't be possible. Then there's obfuscation and other security measures that I'm sure blizzard will have picked up since the 10 years of starcraft's original release.. I'm all for hacking Starcraft and stuff but I think there will be a big mountain to climb before anything develops. To all the hard core crackers out there good luck ![]() |

You can never stop people from hacking or making a game easier / More fun :P

I'm skeptical of Blizzard's claims and the rumors floating around that cheating will be much harder in Starcraft 2. Modern RTS games are really not that difficult to create hacks for and I can't see that changing with this title - especially if Blizzard continues to use its cut-and-paste RTS code.
I do, however, hope it will be difficult. |
