That's not the point. The point is how bright everything is. It's supposed to be darker, and Zerg buildings are hilariously horribly ugly. And the whole thing looks like a Warcraft III Mod. That's all the problem with it. :P

God this is the same argument you people have with diablo 3, it looks cartoony, look at this
![]() Oh yeah, it's like something out of dora the explorer, it's obvious this game was designed for two year olds. ![]() There we go there's the dark gritty realism I remember. Idiots. |

I see what you mean when I look at some of the Terran structures, but honestly it's not that big of a deal, Starcraft looked like garbage if you wanted them to preserve that ****ty look than it sucks for you. I'm more worried about major gameplay changes, like this new gas mechanic, (you can buy additional gas for 100 minerals) If they start making major changes to gameplay that's when it will no longer feel like starcraft, much like the transition from wc2-wc3.

The game will probably be more balanced than in SC1, I think they're making a concerted effort right now to change the mechanics in such a way where it's like starcraft, but a NEW starcraft, instead of just starcraft with different units.

The mechanics changes are the big issue, it's true. MBS has got to go. Automine has got to go. Attack-move rally points have got to go. So many more changes... have got to go.
I am all for updating the game, but not for making it easier or changing the macro/micro balance that made the first game great. I read somebody asserting on the SC2 forums that the new changes simply reduce "attention-splitting"... yes, and that is the problem. It was the fact that you had to split your attention between macro and micro, always having to decide at any given moment where your attention was needed more, that created that classic feeling of urgency in the first game. When you were doing macro during a battle you always knew the micro was suffering, and vice versa. You had to CHOOSE, and that was a fundamental aspect of strategy. If they don't recapture this aspect of the game in SC2, it will amount to a turd in a tuxedo.

I think they're changing the mechanics, not destroying the game.
The idea this time around is probably focusing on game strategy and not click strategy. They're trying to further differentiate between the races, the terran are even more of a balanced race with the new dichotomy in the types of units, instead of everything being just inbetween... IE, they added a raiding aspect with the reapers, while also giving tanks more utility and adding more heavy units. Protoss has just been given even heavier units and added more of a technique to the way you use them. I don't know about the zerg, but they'll probably be more about their already disposable aspect and adding something else in the mix. It really looks like the goal is for it to be another game that will also feel familiar when you start playing again. |
