Hacked Regedit

Ok, so my school computers use Novell, and their OS is Windows 98

. Well, I guessed that most of the client-side security restrictions were in the registry. One problem: regedit was disabled. So I wondered, did Windows prevent regedit from running if that value existed or did regedit do a check and stop itself? I fired up Win32 DAsm and found that regedit checked for the disabling entry. Just replacing a jne to a jmp did the trick. So, if you are having problems with "Registry editing has been disabled by the administrator," than you might have fun with this. The first download is a hacked copy from my computer (WinXP SP1) and the second is a hacked copy from my school (Win98). I'm not responsible if you break a computer with this. Note: check (HKEY_CURRENT_USER/HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE)\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Cur rentVersion\Policies :rolleyess:

Sadly howard is correct.

On windows xp lashed to a proper ADS, there is no way for a local user without the correct permissions to be able to exploit this.

The faculty at my school are so dumb. I can have regedit open when they walk by and they don't do anything. This one time, I was doing a virus scan (my school's computers are virus bombs) and a lady walked by and said "why do you have scandisk running?" I said "I don't. I'm doing a virus scan" and she said "yeah, why do you have scandisk running? Here let me close it." What a retard. She deserves a good trip down the stairs.

my school tried to lock their computers down but left the default administrator account without a password. my friends and i would always load counterstrike onto the computer and play. whenever our teacher asked we told him it was a game online. it was so fun
