I used HostGator for 8 months, until my site grew too big for their shared servers. For smaller websites, I highly recommend HostGator. Most of the times they are fast, unless you end up with bad luck and get a sh*tty server. In that case, I would request a server move.

whats a good host thats really fast?

if u got lots of bandwith being used and u want people to have fast download rates.
