are there any companies i should avoid when registering a domain name? already got a server lined up, looking for a domain name to hold my music site and stuff
best companies?

Avoid network solutions. They tend to sit on domains you lookup from their page.

So far, I've used godaddy without any complaints, but I'm guessing there are cheaper around.

I've use both godaddy and namecheap and namecheap has been a lot better.

Stay away from RegisterFly.

I highly recommend NameCheap (never had any problems with them) or GoDaddy (great prices, no problems with them either).
